“People say we’re the human face of IT”: Steria’s own words on what makes it stand out in a crowded marketplace. Lang Communications helped to give that face a voice.

In writing Steria’s 2011 CR summary we conveyed the style and values of a company that provides a wide range of IT services that help its clients reduce their carbon footprints.  We also told the story of Steria’s own efforts to improve the sustainability of its operations.

This was our third year writing the Steria CR summary, working with designers Radley Yeldar.

Britvic

Britvic is one of Europe’s leading soft drinks companies. It is a brand-led and marketing-driven company as well as a manufacturer, and seeks to use the power of its brands to address a number of social and environmental issues, through influencing consumer behaviour.

Lang was invited to write the document as part of its work on a suite of reports for Britvic. The company was in the process of changing its CR strategy. The report, therefore, had to describe progress according to one set of criteria while at the same time introducing the new strategy and a new approach to reporting.

Lang’s broad understanding of CR issues and how they relate to a company’s overall business strategy, enabled it to offer advice to the client on how to achieve its objectives.

The report was written from supplied bullet points and interviews, and involved a considerable amount of client liaison.

Clifford Chance

Clifford Chance is one of the world's largest law firms, a feisty and ambitious challenger to its three Magic Circle rivals. Part of our task in producing this first Annual Review was to present the firm as more closely in tune with the corporate world and therefore a better bet for business clients and ambitious, clever people.

Among other things we’ve tried to show that being at the top of your game is not just intellectually stimulating but also good fun.  

The report won a British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB) Award of Excellence in the Annual Review Private Sector category.

“It really felt to us like Clifford Chance is serious about what it does – but not taking itself too seriously. For its distinct lack of pomposity alone, this Annual Report is something to talk about.”

Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook had just merged with Airtours to become one of the world's largest leisure travel companies. We were working on its annual report with Merchant Corporate Design, and were asked to write its first-ever corporate responsibility report.

Working with the newly-formed CR team, we pulled material together from all over an organisation in the throes of post-merger restructuring. It was all done in some haste, to produce an online report to a demanding schedule – but the resulting framework proved robust enough for us to use in the 2008 report a year later.
